Quick explainer

See how your PEHP benefit works

This interactive overview from the original page explains the Medallus DPC program, Traditional PEHP, HDHP members, and enrollment flow.

Plan paths

Traditional PEHP and HDHP work differently

Both paths can give members access to the same Medallus care model, but the payment rules differ before and after a high-deductible plan deductible is met.

Traditional PEHP plans

  • Participation is at no cost to you.
  • PEHP pays Medallus directly for your PEHP / Medallus DPC program.
  • Your PCP designation applies immediately.
  • You receive unlimited covered primary care and urgent care visits at Medallus.

HDHP plans: STAR, Consumer, Summit

  • You may participate while on an HDHP.
  • Before your deductible is met, adults pay $38/month and children pay $22/month.
  • These monthly payments count toward your deductible.
  • After your deductible is met, PEHP pays your PEHP / Medallus DPC program.

Program details

Important member responsibilities

The original PEHP page includes several program rules members should understand before and after enrolling.

TopicWhat PEHP members should know
PCP designationBy participating, you designate Medallus as your Primary Care Provider. PEHP pays Medallus monthly on your behalf based on this designation, and you agree to use Medallus clinics for your primary care needs while enrolled.
Outside primary careIf you wish to visit another primary care provider, you must cancel Medallus participation at least 30 days before that outside PCP visit. If you visit an outside PCP without canceling in advance, you may be responsible for the full cost of that visit.
HDHP timingBefore meeting your deductible, HDHP members may continue seeing outside PCPs and using PEHP insurance at their discretion. After the deductible is met, PEHP begins paying Medallus, Medallus becomes the designated PCP, and PCP designation rules apply.
Durable medical equipmentMedallus offers some DME in-house, but DME is not included in the PEHP / Medallus DPC program. Medallus bills PEHP for DME, and any remaining deductible, coinsurance, or balance becomes the member's responsibility.
Quest outside labsMany labs are handled in-house, but some tests are sent to Quest Diagnostics. Quest bills PEHP directly, coverage depends on the plan, and any remaining balance is the member's responsibility.
Coverage changesYour PEHP coverage must remain active. Notify Medallus immediately if your PEHP plan changes, ends, or switches between HDHP and Traditional. Services after PEHP coverage ends may become your financial responsibility.

Member acknowledgment

Know what you are agreeing to

Before enrolling, members should understand what is covered, what is not included, and what happens if PEHP eligibility changes.

Medallus is your PCP while enrolledTraditional members have immediate PCP designation. HDHP members follow HDHP timing rules.
DME and outside labs can create balancesDME is billed to PEHP, and Quest lab balances may depend on plan benefits and deductible status.
Eligibility changes must be reportedMembers are financially responsible for services provided without active PEHP coverage or proper cancellation.
